Entries now open for Zone Horror’s £5000 short film competition
Digital channel Zone Horror is offering budding film directors a chance to get ahead in the cut-throat movie business, offering £5,000 as the top prize in its short film horror competition.
The aptly-titled CUT! competition is calling for two minute entries from British filmmakers with a passion for horror.
“CUT! is a fantastic way for the horror industry to get an infusion of fresh blood,” says Clare Dentith, Head of Marketing for Zone Horror. “Fostering new filmmaking talent is a proud horror tradition. A number of Hollywood's current A-list directors developed their skills in low-budget fright flicks. Zone Horror is delighted to be able to provide a platform to showcase the work of talented newcomers and launch their careers.”
Slicing and dicing through the entries will be an elite panel of judges, including local horror hero Alan Jones, Wrong Turn 2 director Joe Lynch and Troma’s chief provocateur Lloyd Kaufman.
The top ten finalists will be unleashed at a public screening next year and will also be broadcast on Zone Horror. The overall winner will take away £5000 cash.
The CUT! off date for entries is Friday 11 April 2008.
